For the record, when I once fasted for 48 hours with a whole group of college students, I was the only one who was dry heaving & throwing up bile after 28 hours. I get nauseous when I am hungry. The hungrier I get, the pickier I feel about what I want to eat. I've been on hikes where I am starving, but just thinking about a power bar made me want to be sick and I waited till we could get some "real" food to eat. Usually when I am that hungry I only want protein & carbs, but real ones like pasta, steak, pizza, etc. No chips, candy or junk food.

So I guess its possible that Saben inherited his throwing up on an empty stomach from me.... Darn it.

It's funny, but I am exactly the same way as you! If I don't eat when I am starting to get hungry, then I get nauseous, then the thought of certain types of food makes me feel sick... making it harder to eat. It's a very strange paradox... let me know if you have any tips to get over the queasy feeling.

Jacob is like that too...the less he eats, the less likely he is to eat! If that makes sense.

I've found sometimes it helps to give him a really preferred item just to get him going. Like maybe some chocolate chips to start off with, and THEN when he's requesting more of those I will require he take a bite of a regular food first.

I know a number of years back I was having really horrible headaches that made me nauseous and so I ate less and less. Finally nothing sounded good. I ended up going and getting a big container of those super sweet, awful grocery store bakery cupcakes because I LOVE them!! THAT I could still eat. LOL! And once I had a couple of those, I started to feel more like I could maybe have something else. I was down to 90 lbs and really I think the cupcake trick saved me... ;)

Yah, luckily Saben will gobble down cereal in the morning, he LOVES cereal, but I didn't realize how hungry he was and made him wait a little while and that's when he started throwing up.

Andrea,
I can't believe it, everyone always thinks I am nutso when I say I'm starving & refuse to eat, I've never heard anyone having the same problem. The only thing I've found is to force myself to eat tiny nibbles of something sugary, that gets my blood sugar up and usually I feel better enough to figure out what I want to eat next. Even just a few sips of juice will increase my sanity.
